Some of our local big guns battled it out in challenging conditions for Breast Cancer Research on Sunday in an attempt to shoot 27 under par at The Cut in Perth’s Peel region.
Punters are usually recommended to bring extra balls to this challenging links course but in a six-ball Ambrose. Greg Norman Medal and USPGA Major Champion Hannah Green, pros Jarryd Felton and Brayden Becker and top-ranked WA local Amateurs Kathryn Norris, Hayden Hopewell and Haydn Barron well and truly showed us how it was done.
With a storm threatening on the horizon, the three pairs managed to comfortably exceed their target by shooting 30 under par through 13 holes before lighting stopped play. A total of 26 birdies and two eagles, and over $14,000 raised for the National Breast Cancer Foundation this can be chalked up to a truly successful day for all.
The inspiration behind this event is Lynda Norris, Mum to Kathryn Norris who is currently one of the top Amateur Female golfers in WA. Lynda was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in December last year. Kathryn and her family are very grateful for the medical support treatments that have been available to help Lynda and hope to raise awareness and funds to support future breast cancer research.
Hannah Green was “thrilled to be supporting this event and the Norris Family. It was great to get to play at The Cut for such a great cause.” At a tearful presentation, Kathryn Norris dedicated the day to her mum, and helping others benefit from the treatment and support her family have been offered.
