The 2020 Cobra Puma Junior Championship concluded yesterday with an exciting finish in chilly conditions at Wanneroo Golf Club.
Royal Fremantle’s Abbie Teasdale reigned victorious over Lake Karrinyup’s Sheridan Clancy. These ladies battled it out all day, with seventeen-year-old Teasdale storming home with three birdies to win by one stroke, shooting an outstanding 69 on her final day.
Tom Addy of Joondalup Country Club started the day in top position but was steadily chased by Mount Lawley’s Jordan Jung. Jung looked to have the title sewed up but bogeyed the 18th pushing both boys into a sudden-death playoff on the first hole. The winner was decided promptly when Addy missed a 12-foot putt handing the win for Jung.
Teasdale and Jung join the likes of Min Woo Lee, Hannah Green, Curtis Luck and Minjee Lee as winners of this prestigious title.
Sheridan Clancy (LKCC) and Erina Tan (MLGC) took out the girls’ age group titles 15 and over and 14 and under respectively. Tom Addy (JCC) comfortably won the 16 and over by four strokes over Adam Brady from The Vines. Last years titleholder Aldrich Potgieter (JCC) was pipped by Gosnells’ Josiah Gilbert who played steadily over the two rounds to take home the 14 and 15-year-old boys division.
Riley Gott from WAGC had a confident win by five strokes over Josiah Edwards from Gosnells in the thirteen and under category.
Winners were treated to an amazing prize pool supplied by event sponsors Cobra Puma. Huge thanks to the players, supporters and host club for all your contributions to this fantastic event.
