Gosnells and Royal Fremantle have been confirmed as host venues for the 2024 Australian Junior Amateur and Australian Junior Interstate Teams Matches respectively.
The annual Golf Australia events rotate between states on an annual basis and return to WA next autumn for the first time since 2018. Then, Gosnells (pictured above) again hosted the Junior Amateur, while the Interstate Matches were split between Hartfield and Royal Perth.
That proved to be a vintage year for WA golfers, with Connor Fewkes (Goldfields GC) and Maddison Hinson-Tolchard (Gosnells) winning the respective boys’ and girls’ Junior Amateur championships, and the WA girls winning their Interstate Matches at Royal Perth.
Neil Goddard, GolfWA’s Operations Manager, said: “I am delighted that Royal Fremantle and Gosnells – two of our state’s finest courses – will stage these significant national events.
“It is a major undertaking for the clubs and we thank them and their members for their support in showcasing the very best in junior amateur golf in Australia. I am confident that players visiting from the eastern states will thoroughly enjoy the experience of playing at both venues.”
The two clubs have produced a pipeline of talent, with several of their players coming through GolfWA’s High Performance Program and representing the state at both junior and senior level.
These players include Gosnells’ sisters Maddison and Jorja Hinson-Tolchard, Josiah Edwards and Jarryd Felton, and Royal Fremantle’s Hayden Hopewell, Abbie Teasdale, Ollie Goss and Min Woo and Minjee Lee.
