GolfWA’s attention turns to the heart of the South West this week as Donnybrook Country Club plays host to the 2020 Aglime Rural Bronze.
The Aglime Rural Bronze tournament is rich with tradition and history and is always a favourite event on the women’s calendar. The tournament is always held in regional Western Australia and offers participants a chance to embrace the local town and community.
Perpetual trophies awarded each year bring plenty of charm and character to the event. The Gladys Hawkes Shield is awarded to the ‘best team’ across the duration of the tournament while the overall individual winner will take home the Lady Court Trophy. Another enduring tradition from the event is the Country v City painting which has been dominated by the country women over the years.
Aglime of Australia is again the naming rights sponsor and this highlights their continuing support for the WA golfing community and GolfWA is extremely thankful for their contribution and commitment.
The Saturday night dinner is always a highlight of the Rural Bronze and the theme this year is apples. Donnybrook is the centre of apple production in Western Australia, so whether you’re a good or bad apple be creative and be ready for a fun night.
