GolfWA is excited to announce the 2020 Nexus Risk WA Open will be contested over 54 holes at Royal Fremantle Golf Club from Friday, October 16 to Sunday, October 18.
The Nexus Risk WA Open is the flagship tournament on the local golfing calendar and will attract some of Western Australia’s finest golfers. In a time when professional golf tours around Australia are being forced to take a break, we are able to offer local golf fans, pros and amateurs a welcome competition
As in previous years, spectators will be welcomed to witness top quality golf free of charge as players compete for a prize purse of $60 000.
GolfWA Chief Executive Gary Thomas was thrilled to announce that this historic event will continue in 2020.
We are delighted that this year’s Nexus Risk WA Open will proceed as a Pro-am Series event over 54 holes. Whilst we are all aware of the unique circumstances we are currently living in, it is pleasing that we will be able to hold our flagship event, which will still have a field consisting of high profile WA professionals as well as our leading male and female amateurs.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Nexus Risk Services for their continued support of the WA Open as Naming Rights Sponsor and to Royal Fremantle Golf Club for agreeing to host the modified tournament.
The WA Open will again include the popular 36-hole All Abilities Championship which will be fully integrated into the tournament for a second year.
40 of WA’s top amateurs will be given the opportunity to tee it up alongside the professionals this year. GolfWA will delegate 20 tournament exemptions with all other amateur spots being awarded through pre-qualifying at The Western Australian Golf Club on Monday, October 12.
