The 2020 School Sport WA GolfWA Secondary School Championship was held at Cottesloe Golf Club on Monday in challenging conditions.
The Championship attracts both new and experienced golfers with a focus on participation, teamwork, and a positive sporting experience.
Bunbury Catholic College claimed top honours by winning the School Teams Championships Shield. Congratulations to Bunbury Catholic College’s Charlotte Brasher, Gabrielle Houston and Elena Mazza for finishing with an outstanding score of 75 points, narrowly defeating the Guildford Grammar School team who finished in second place on 74 points. Como Secondary College finished a further two points back in third position.
The Independent Schools Trophy was taken home by the Guildford Grammar team of Owen Carroll, Riley Schafer and Aiden Georgy.
Overall Gross honours for the boys’ event went to Aldrich Potgieter from Kingsway Christian College. An even-par round of 72 was more than enough for the long-hitting youngster to claim the outright win. Carine Senior High School’s Sheridan Clancy won the girls’ Gross medal with a round of 77.
Thanks to the staff of Cottesloe Golf Club for generously hosting the Championship, and the team from School Sport WA for their organisation and support. The overall results from the Championship can be viewed here, including individual age group winners.
