Kristie Smith was one of the big movers in Round Three of the LPGA Qualifying School, with a 3-under round of 69 to move into a tie for 46th place.
Starting the day tied for 92nd at 4-over par, Smith now sits at 1-over and within the top 70 that are projected to make the cut after the fourth round and and advance to the fifth and final round.
All players that advance will receive at least a Symmetra Tour Card, with the top 20 earning full LPGA Tour status and the golfers placed 21st to 45 taking away conditional LPGA Tour status.
Smith got off to a slow start on the LPGA International Course in Florida, where it was apparent she was battling an illness on the course during her opening round of 76. Smith now seems to have recovered as she continues to move up the leaderboard to be within striking distance of a conditional LPGA Tour Card and four shots back of the top-20 that receive full LPGA status.
