Today, siblings, 10-year-old Jade and 7-year-old Dane Wilkins from Kondinin Golf Club have been named joint winners of the inaugural 2020 Smarter than Smoking Healthy Golfer of the Year. They were both acknowledged for their incredible entries at the Smarter Than Smoking Junior Tour Presentations, held at the prestigious Lake Karrinyup Country Club.
The 2020 Smarter than Smoking Healthy Golfer of the Year competition demonstrates Healthway’s commitment to supporting the health of junior golfers from across our State. The competition was launched earlier this year to continue to engage, educate and motivate our Smarter than Smoking Junior Tour participants who were unable to play their beloved sport during COVID-19 restrictions.
Entries were of a high standard in recognising and promoting healthy living and revealed that our juniors are equally as skilled off the course, as they are on the greens as they put their creative videography talents to the test.
The Wilkins’ were presented with a $1, 000 gift voucher by local champion and 2020 Nexus Risk WA Open winner, Hayden Hopewell. Harry Squibb (age 5) from Gosnells Golf Club and Owen Spedding (age 6) from Kwinana Golf Club, each received a voucher to the value of $250, as finalists.
GolfWA Chief Exexcutive, Gary Thomas, said we are grateful to Healthway who proudly continue to support junior golf in Western Australia. The Smarter than Smoking junior program is a great avenue to inspire young people to live healthier lives.

The first event of the 2021 Junior Tour presented by Healthway will take place at Royal Perth Golf Club on January 22nd.
