The 2021 Senior Amateur Championships of Western Australia will commence this week at Gosnells Golf Club. This challenging 54 holes stroke play event attracts competitors from all over Australia, and is a prestigious event on the annual golfing calendar.
The championships will be played over three days, 29th-31st March with conditions expected to be perfect for all competitors to tackle the challenging fairways and greens at Gosnells Golf Club.
Gosnell’s Golf Club current Ladies Club Champion, Sasha Hofman shared, “the greens at Gosnells are very pure at the moment, and super quick. Generally, if you hit it on a line it will stay true. There are some challenging holes on the course, and it will make for a fantastic championship venue.”
Former winner NSW’s Ken Brewer will be one to watch in the Men’s competition. Lynwood Country Club member Brewer is currently on top of the table for the NSW Senior Men’s Order of Merit, in line to take this out for his fifth year in a row. Brewer won the Gold Coast Senior Amateur Championship in 2020, and is joined by fellow NSW’s seniors in WA, Colin Bloomfield and Mark Wilson.
Previous champion, Hartfield’s Michael Dunsmore is back chasing another title alongside last years winner Harvey’s Michael Lucas.
Lake Karrinyup’s Carmen Palframan is on form, fresh from a win last week in the Senior Women’s 54-hole Bowra & O’Dea Classic and 2020 Women’s Senior Amateur title winner Sharon Dawson is a confident and consistent performer, and certainly one to watch.
A fantastic line up with some familiar and some new faces joining the field. Daily scores and tee times will be available here.
