The Women’s 2021 Pennant season is well underway with Royal Fremantle hosting the fourth round in some challenging wet conditions. It didn’t seem to worry the Lake Karrinyup and Royal Perth ladies , dominating their matches 7-0 over Melville Glades and Cottesloe. Mount Lawley continue to be undefeated, comfortably securing a win over WAGC and sit comfortably at the top of the leaderboard by two points. An outstanding win by youngster Valerie Khuu 9/7 shows great depth of talent in this squad, and with their top tier player Kirsten Rudgeley heading off for some international competition shortly, the team will be in safe hands.
Lake Karrinyup have a balanced, steady side, with Sheridan Clancy on form this year, playing alongside WA Senior Amateur Champion Carmen Palframen. Next week the top two teams Mount Lawley and Lake Karrinyup will meet at Cottesloe Golf Club and will most certainly offer some high calibre match play viewing. Cottesloe Golf Club was in immaculate condition this weekend for the 2021 Sanwell Cottesloe Open, but proved very challenging, particularly the greens. Royal Fremantle will be back in the contest next round and will have some insider knowledge of the tricky Cottesloe course from their number one player Abbie Teasdale, the only female competitor in the Cottesloe Open Field this weekend.
Division Two will commence their fourth round at Royal Perth Golf Club on Monday, with The Vines currently top of the leaderboard, narrowly ahead of Royal Perth and Mandurah. Early days in the Ladies competition, with some exciting golf on the calendar ahead.
