Royal Perth Golf Club are the 2021 Division One Women’s Pennant flag Champions, denying Mount Lawley Golf Club their fifth consecutive win. An outstanding performance by the Royal Perth Ladies winning 4-3 with the home course advantage for Mount Lawley not phasing the strong form, consistency and determination of the Royal Perth talent today.
Team Manager Colette Nalder shared, “our focus at Royal Perth is all about team, and today that truly shone through despite the stormy weather. I am very proud of how the team pulled together to secure the flag from the top of the ladder Mount Lawley. The depth of talent we have in our top five, with Mai Julius, Nadine Smith, Yeah Jin Lee, Brooke Price and Minke Terblanche allowed us to rotate these positions. This gave all these players the opportunity to play Number one for Royal Perth, alongside work and study commitments, supported by our solid core group of Dawn Nosowthy, Leith Elliot, Mandy Burness and Hayley Carter completing the team.”
Team Captain Dawn Nosworthy thanked her incredible team for their commitment & focus, recognising the unique culture and club community at Royal Perth. Caddies and supporters were instrumental in our final success and all part of our team, and Mount Lawley are to be congratulated on a tremendous competition.
Dawn revealed the secret weapon of former Women’s Captain Wendy Krummel’s weekly magic muffins that fuelled the team over the entire season. These alongside some divine intervention, dedicating the Pennant win to Vice President Peter Young, who attended all our matches up until his sudden death on June 16.
Peter would have been overjoyed by this win, and to dedicate this to him is a significant and touching tribute by the team. Congratulations Royal Perth, an exceptional win and a new home for the flag for 2021.
