Today marked the final stage of the 2022 Traveltree women’s playoffs. Wanneroo Golf Club hosted the final and as always was in fantastic condition even with the previous nights rain.
The teams that advanced through to todays state final had previously battled it out against club members to get to the final round.
An exciting reward waited for the winners of today. A four-day trip to the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open.
The challenging Wanneroo course was going to prove testing even in the four ball better ball format.
The weather didn’t make it any easier for the ladies this morning with wind and rain joining them for the start if the morning.
With both players from grass and sand green clubs converging on Wanneroo for the final it made for an awesome sight to see so many women competing for the title of the 2022 Traveltree Champions.
The runners up on the sand green side were Jill Holmes and Sussanne Greaves from Mingenew Golf club. Jill and Sussanne posted a strong stableford score of 37 points for the morning.
Ling Lichtensteiger and Pauline Figuera-Raynor were the runners up on the grass green side of the draw. They posted 43 points and missed out on taking the title back to the Redbacks Ladies Golf Club by one point.
The 2022 Champions of the Traveltree playoffs were Kylie Tremlett and Elaine King from Latham Golf Club. The duo combined for a whopping 44 points to take out the title. Both contributed equally to the scoring including a heap of three pointers and a four pointer on the long par three fourth from Elaine.
Congratulations must go to Kylie and Elaine but also to all who competed in the 2022 Traveltree competition both in clubland and at today’s playoff at Wanneroo. Wanneroo should also be commended on both the presentation of the course and the hospitality shown to all.
A final thankyou needs to be made to Traveltree for sponsoring the event and providing an awesome experience for the winners of the playoff.
