Following a lengthy process, the Board of Golf Western Australia is delighted to advise of the following two new Appointed Directors. Both Directors have been appointed for a term of 2 years as per the Golf WA Constitution.
KELLIE BENDA
An innovative, commercially and politically astute professional company director, Kellie has also held “c-suite” executive roles across a number of well-known Australian organisations in mining, energy, property and infrastructure.
Kellie is a lawyer with a Masters in Finance and a previous career as an investment banker. She has also studied, at Masters level, digital and data leadership.
Kellie has served as a non-executive director since 2003 including an ASX listed company, private companies and investment advisers, Government Trading Enterprises (GTEs), State and Federal Government boards and a range of not-for-profits and associations. She founded and chaired a charity that helped prepare disadvantaged women for the workforce.
Kellie was awarded a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and the Australian Institute of Leadership and Management.
KAREN CADDY
Karen brings to the Board strong business skills, financial literacy, strategic thinking and a passion for innovation gained through an extensive period in the mining industry as well as Agriculture, Health/Aged Care and Property Development. Within the Mining Industry, Karen spent 14 years with Rio Tinto and provided consulting services to BHP, One Steel/ Arrium and several other large mining companies. Karen currently runs her own consultancy business specialising in Strategic Planning and business improvement.
From a Board and Governance perspective, Karen was a Councillor for the City of Stirling (WA’s largest local government) from 2013 – 2021; sat on the Tamala Park Regional Council from 2015 – 2021 including Chair 2019-2021, and currently Chairs the Stirling Business Centre.
Karen is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Both Kellie and Karen have a passion for sport and no doubt combined with their aforementioned skills will be outstanding contributors to the Board of GolfWA.

Further to the above, we also advise that Jodie Meadows has resigned from the Board of GolfWA although she will stay on as a member of our Governance Committee. Jodie was first appointed to the Board of GolfWA in 2020 for a term of two years and was re-appointed at the completion of that term earlier this year. Jodie holds a very senior position in a large international organisation that is going through a period of significant growth and due to increasing time constraints has resolved that she cannot commit to the level that she would like.
“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Jodie for her significant input to the Board of GolfWA for the past 2 ¼ years” said GolfWA Chief Executive Gary Thomas. “Her contribution has been invaluable particularly in the areas of governance and finance and we wish her the very best”.
