Two weeks after the Individual Senior Men’s Pennants were completed, the Fourball Pennants have now also found their conclusion. Two sets of finals were played yesterday afternoon at Lakelands Country Club and the Melville Glades Golf Club in great conditions for the finals of this year’s competition.
At Melville Glades, the Black Division title was won by Royal Fremantle 3-2 over The Vines, following both teams finishing on top of their respective North and South competitions. All three of Royal Fremantle’s wins ending 3&2. Chequers takes out the Red Division title after finishing four points ahead of Lake Karrinyup through the season. They met another Royal Fremantle team in the final and took a convincing 4-1 victory, the convincing nature of the end of match score was perhaps foreshadowed by the result of the first matchup, Chequers’ Dave Brown and Eric Schmidt winning 5&4 over Royal Fremanlte’s Narinder Singh and Sandy Knox. More one sided results followed at Melville Glades, with Kwinana claiming a 4-1 victory over The Vines in the Orange Division and Royal Fremantle claiming their second pennant of the day with a 4-1 win over Cottesloe in the White Division.
Meanwhile at Lakelands, we were greeted with more lopsided title finishes. The Blue Division was won 3.5-1.5 by the WAGC over Gosnells, with the same result seeing the Yellow Division title be handed to Lake Karrinyup who found themselves victorious over Royal Perth. Cottesloe have won the Green Division after another strong performance downing Gosnells 4.5-0.5 and The Vines have won their sixth consecutive Purple Division title after they escaped with the tightest win of the day, a tight 3-2 win over Cottesloe.
