Min Woo Lee has marked his Masters debut by having his world No. 4 sister Minjee Lee caddie for him at the annual Par-3 contest.
It was a memorable family moment for the Lees, who are golfing royalty in Australia.
“It was so much fun to caddie for him,” Minjee Lee told Australian Golf Digest. “It’s a big honour for Min Woo to play the Masters; he’s watched the tournament on TV his whole life and it’s a big dream come true for him.
“He drove up Magnolia Lane this morning and I was taking a video of him driving in. It’s so cool to be able to experience it with him for his first Masters, and my parents, for our first time at Augusta.”
Minjee Lee, winner of last year’s Evian Championship and one of just four Australian women to win a major, came into Augusta on Tuesday and was gobsmacked by the crowd for a practice day, with her brother playing in the group in front of former world No. 1 Tiger Woods.
“The crowd, I’ve never seen anything like that for a practice round,” Minjee, who won last year’s Evian Championship for her first Major title, told Australian Golf Digest. “This is my first time to Augusta National. It’s pretty surreal to be here, to be watching my brother practising for the Masters. But I didn’t expect Min Woo to be the group in front of Tiger. It was incredible.”
