The Healthway sponsored Crunch & Sip Junior Tour was played at Royal Fremantle Golf Club on Sunday the 27th of March 2022. It was forecast all week to be a very wet day for the 72 participants, but luckily enough the rain kept away, and a nice morning of golf was enjoyed.
The Crunch & Sip Junior Tour is focused on five core values of:
- Perseverance
- Respect
- Sportsmanship
- Honesty
- Acceptance
The field is split up into four different divisions:
- 5 Hole Tiger Tee Rules
- 9 Hole Tiger Tee Rules
- 9 Hole Modified Stroke Rules
- 9 Hole Stableford Scoring System
The 5-hole Tiger Tee rules are designed to help our new juniors probably enjoying their first competition event. They tee off from a modified tee position placed further down the fairway and play only 5 holes. If the player is not on the green after 7 shots they take their ball to the nearest edge of the green and have a maximum of 10 shots per hole. There were 14 boys and girls participating, with Greta Abrahams and Martha Morris both shooting 29 to lead the field.
The 9-hole Tiger Tee rules had 23 participants with some very impressive shot making being had and taken out by Amelia Cristobal with a great score of 40, her personal best.
The 9 hole Modified Stroke rules have the same rules as the Tiger Tees, however they are playing from the main course tee box. 16 participants enjoyed a full 9 holes of golf and was won by Keagan Horak with a wonderful score of 59 also a personal best score.
The 9-hole Stableford event, where the players have a handicap (GA handicap is 32.0 or below for boys and 36.0 or below for girls) to determine their score to par, is for the most experienced Crunch & Sip juniors. With a field of 19 participants, Sienna Scopinich was able to take out the win with a great score of 23 points off a handicap of 35.
The next Crunch & Sip event will be held at Mandurah Country Club on Sunday the 10th of April 2022, we look forward to seeing you there.
