GolfWA is delighted to announce our 2020 State Team coaches.
Mount Lawley Golf Club PGA Professional, Alex McKay will take up the Girls’ team coaching role for the first time and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.
McKay has been involved with GolfWA as a Junior Ace development coach in recent years but 2020 will mark his first involvement as a State Team coach.
“I’m excited to work with this group to develop a culture and brand that GolfWA can be proud of,” McKay said.
“We have a young group of girls that lack a bit of experience but we have the opportunity to set the tone for girls golf in Western Australia and that is something I’m looking forward to.”
Kerrod Gray guided the Girls’ team to an Interstate victory in 2018 and next year he will be looking for more success as he makes the transition to the Boys’ team.
Gray heads up Joondalup Resort’s golf academy and has built an impressive stable of junior golfers in recent years.
Tristan McCallum will bring a fresh perspective to the Women’s coaching role as he takes the reigns for the first time.
McCallum won the 2018 Hilary Lawler Club Professional of the Year award as head professional at Sea View Golf Club and he is eager to bring a new set of eyes to the Women’s coaching role.
On the Men’s side of the equation, current WA PGA Coach of the Year, Ritchie Smith, will reprise his role as head coach.
Ritchie brings a wealth of experience to the role and will be a huge asset to the group who will be looking to improve on their impressive 2019 performance.
Smith is well renowned as one of the brightest coaching minds in Australian golf and many of Australia’s top golfing talents look to him for coaching and guidance.
